As like a biosphere, thechnology is everywhere.

People don't talk about technology

Technology awareness appears when technology does not work . Even when it's contextualized to an every day life.

Technology are a materialization of values. Also it reveals the world, a mindset, a system

Technolog-ies (plural)

Tangible or not artifacts. They can not be neutral, this means that technology beyond good or bad, it has an impact, it adds possibilities, it changes the context

Soft determinism

we can see technology as an evolving system of co-adaptation. We need to incorporate a mediating role (go beyond if it is good or bad). Technologies are a medium to experience the world

Activity / Reflection

For the exercise, Everardo and I chose to focus on bulletproof vests and analyze their relevance to the class topics. Our main takeaway was reflecting on how, although intended as safety gear, bulletproof vests imply a dangerous environment and can be counterproductive to use.

The course highlighted that technology often goes unnoticed until it fails, reflecting our dependency on it. We delved into how technologies embody and express values, shaping and being shaped by societal norms through a concept called soft determinism. This approach challenges us to see technology not just in terms of utility but as a dynamic participant in our interactions with the world, influencing and reflecting our values and behaviors. Overall, the course urged a deeper awareness and critical examination of the role technology plays in our lives.
