I"Seminar given by Christian Ernst and Pietro Rustici, aimed at teaching how to work with AI from a design and creative perspective, where AI serves as a tool in the creation process.
In the seminar, Christian and Pietro showcased their portfolio of work involving AI and outlined the steps they took to achieve their final results. Additionally, we had discussions about the profound impact this tool wields, its influence on society, and speculative discussions surrounding it. They advocated for a more grounded perspective on AI, emphasizing its present capabilities. Furthermore, we had the opportunity to observe some technical demonstrations and participated in a workshop involving AI.
For the class activity, we utilized DOTTOD, a platform that translates images into text prompts, and then we used these prompts to generate new images. We delved into the potential of these prompts, pushing the boundaries by exploring 3D modeling with AI. Additionally, Jorge demonstrated rendering techniques using AI during the presentation..
Personally, this seminar was my favorite of the term. I appreciated the perspective of viewing AI as a tool and medium for enhancing creativity rather than merely replacing human labor. While I would have liked the seminar to be longer to delve deeper into technical coding aspects, it provided valuable insight into how AI can be applied to my personal project. My interests lie in digital fabrication, manufacturing, and craftsmanship, and I see AI as a means to democratize these processes, making them more accessible to a wider audience.
