Seminar aimed to do an intervention within a community with the values of soil and land

Soil

For the first class, we visited the Sanz neighborhood, specifically Can Batllo, where we learned about the transformative power inherent in collective action and community engagement, emphasizing a perspective of working directly with the community and social considerations. As part of the activity, we observed issues within the neighborhood to identify a thematic focus for our seminar work.

Land

On the second day, we visited La Borda, a community building that advocates for a new lifestyle in terms of housing and community vision. I was truly impressed by the experience, finding the work they have done to be admirable and inspiring. The class focused on the methodology of transformation and intervention.

Final Project

As a final group project, we conducted an intervention aimed at engaging a community. Within my team, we chose the theme of raising awareness about the intra-species system that exists. Our neighborhoods are also home to various types of insects, animals, and plants. Therefore, we created a card game for children to familiarize them with the voices of these species, discover their characteristics, and stimulate conversation. This game is intended for communities such as EducAmbient, which focuses on educating about ecological issues.

Reflexions

The seminar was a delightful experience that encourages reflection on how we live and build community. It was refreshing to step outside the confines of the institute and explore a new neighborhood. The final project posed a challenge, requiring us to venture beyond our comfort zone. I thoroughly enjoyed the end result and how it transformed into a playful and educational experience.
